Here is your own Valentine bookish post, everyone!
I hope you have all had either lots of roses, chocolate or, if you’re single, treated yourself to something special. As you may have seen from the title, I’m going to be chatting about some YA novels about love in different ways. Some are forbidden, one is fantasy…you get the idea.
What drew me to reading this was that the main character, Annie, has cerebral palsy and you don’t get many books like this! More should! Both she and a boy called Fab (who had moved from Poland) seem to be discovering themselves and happen to stumble upon each other. I absolutely love how sassy Annie is and refuses to let her disability stop her from living her life finally to the fullest. This novel is so fluffy, cute and Fab is crazy! A good kind of crazy and reminds me a little bit of Scorpius from Cursed Child!
Remember the whole phase of vampire romance novels that flocked bookshops a few years back? Now it’s fallen angels and I’ve had a couple of people saying I should read this series! I have never read a book about a fallen angel so will have to let you know how it goes, but I decided to include this since it’s all about a forbidden romance! Patch and Nora do sound like they kind of mirror Edward and Bella but again…we’ll see!
Everyone knows that Paris is the city of love so how could I not include a book set there?! I have always loved the plot of someone going to France for some reason and ending up falling for a boy over there! Stephanie does a remarkable job at making you feel all of Anna’s frustration and nervousness about being left alone in a different country, but that all changes as the book goes on! She also comes up with some hilarious lines: “Girl scouts didn’t teach me what to do with emotionally unstable drunk boys.” I’m currently re-reading this as a Valentine choice because it’s just that cute! Haha!
If you’re looking for a unique love story that also has a bunch of other twists and turns in it, then you will adore this! The relationship between Indigo and Bailey is so beautiful! It kept me on the edge of my comfy seat right up until the end and even left me wanting to read so much more. Both of them are relatable and they go through so much, especially Indigo. That poor girl has it rough! Even though both of them has two different types of upbringing, they ultimately are drawn together. If you love a mystery, you’ll love this even more.
